这份清单包含距离太阳系6.13秒差距(20光年)内所有已知的恒星和棕矮星。除了太阳系之外,目前已知在这个距离内还有94个恒星系统。这些系统共包含103颗进行氢融合的恒星(其中80颗是红矮星)、21颗棕矮星和6颗白矮星。尽管这些天体相对而言都很接近地球,但是只有22颗的视星等小于6.5等,这意味着这些天体只有大约21%是可以用裸眼看见[1]。除了太阳之外,只有三颗是明亮的1等星:南门二(半人马座α星)、天狼星(大犬座α星)、和南河三(小犬座α星)。这些天体全部都位于银河系猎户臂的本地泡。
